HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem No 4 - Townsend2/1/2022 1 WWW.TOWNSENDPA.COM SACRAMENTO • WASHINGTON, DC NORTHERN CALIFORNIA • CENTRAL CALIFORNIA • SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Legislative Update February 7, 2022 Page 2 Sacramento General Overview 2022 • 2022 is the second year of the 2-year legislative cycle • Legislature returned from Interim Recess on January 3, 2022 • Legislature’s top focus in 2022 expected to be on continued COVID-19 response, housing and homelessness, and climate resiliency • New bill introduction deadline for 2022 is February 18 OC San LaPA: Legislative Update: February 7, 2022 1 2 2/1/2022 2 Page 3 2022-2023 January Budget Framework Budget Details • $286.4 Billion Total Spending (9.1% Increase) •COVID-19 Relief:Provides approximately $2.7 billion over two years to support testing, vaccine distribution, and healthcare workers. •Climate Resiliency:Major investments in forest health, wildfire resiliency, drought support, and nature-based solutions. •Housing/Homelessness: Additional $4 billion for programs and solutions with emphasis on sustainability in development OC San LaPA: Legislative Update: February 7, 2022 Page 4 2022-2023 January Budget Framework Budget Details (continued) •Supply Chain Resiliency: $2.3 billion proposed for investments in ports and goods moving infrastructure, ZEV equipment, and workforce training •Air Quality:Additional $6.1 billion over 5 years for ZEV deployment prioritizing heavy fleets such as buses in DAC communities •Drought Response:$750 million for one-time drought resilience and response.
