What is
Super
Critical
Water?
The properties of H2O change
significantly above 3200 psi and 705
degrees Fahrenheit.

Properties
of Super
Critical
Water
•Oil and water mix
•Organics are soluble
•Oxygen can mix freely
•Organic chemical bonds are
broken similar to burning a log in
a fire, (just a heck of a lot faster)
•Salts don’t dissolve
•Managing this problem is key
•Primary Sludge
•Dry solids:13%
•Ash content: 18%
•Calorific value: 16.3 MJ/kgdry
•Waste Activated Sludge
•Dry solids:27%
•Ash content: ~35%
•Calorific value: 13.9 MJ/kgdry
•Food Waste
•Dry solids:30%
•Ash content: 6%
•Calorific value: 16‐19 MJ/kgdry
•AFFF
•3%PFAS
•Calorific value: 7MJ/kg

•Long chain organic compounds are made
up of mostly carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen,
phosphates, and sulfur.
•Water has dissolved minerals like iron,
calcium, magnesium.
•Super critical water oxidation adds oxygen
(from air) to break down organic chains to
benign compounds like: nitrogen, carbon
dioxide, calcium phosphate, calcium
sulphate, and water.
What
happens
to the
solids?
•Long Term Biosolids Sustainability
•Microplastics
•PFAS/PFOA
•Other CECs
•Diesel trucks on the Road to Arizona
•Electric trucks to Yuma
•Odor impacts reduced
•Less chemical usage
•Zero Pathogens

•Hydraulic Pressures
•Similar to Biosolids Pumping
Hydraulics
•Similar to Excavator/Forklift
Hydraulics
•Uses air, not oxygen
