Seek funding assistance/credit for Santa Ana River
Rip Rap removal
Met with US Army Corp in DC to discuss possible
solutions including moving the rock to the upper part
of the watershed or having the Corp replace the rock
with their rock.
Compile a comprehensive list of Capital
Improvement projects (CIP)
A comprehensive database of CIP has been created
and continually reviewed and updated. This tool is
useful in match funding opportunities to ongoing
projects.
Develop a proactive legislative advocacy agenda
Continuing to host Legislative Tours. To date,
Assemblyman Harper and Assemblywoman Chang
have taken a tour of District. Field Representative for
Senator Boxer and Assemblywoman Kim to take a tour
in April/May.
Continue to monitor legislation that benefits or hinders
the work of the District. Take positions as necessary.
Seek funding support for water recycling
feasibility study
Applied for WaterSmart Grant and received Letters of
Support from seven cities and organizations. Went to
DC to lobby congressional staff. Congressman
Rohrabacher has agreed to lead a joint letter.
Monitor and advise on funding opportunities
available through Prop 1
Working with staff on possible projects that fit within
the current funding guidelines including funding for SP
173 Water Reuse Study for GWRS.
