To implement a comprehensive, federally-mandated Pretreatment Program and protect staff
and community health, the environment, and OCSD's infrastructure and reuse initiatives
Resource Recovery at OCSD
•Effluent for water reuse: 100 mgd => 130 mgd
•Biosolids from digestion of solids: 750 tons per day
•Biogas (methane) from digesters used to make electricity (2/3 total demand) and heat

Industrial User –Definition*
•Any facility that discharges a large volume of industrial wastewater
•Any facility subject to a Federal Category listed in the CFR
•Any industrial facility that has a potential to violate local, state, or federal pretreatment standards
*As defined by CFR and OCSD Ordinance
Industrial User –Requirements
•Must obtain an OCSD Permit
•Wastewater discharge must meet certain pollutant concentration criteria determined by OCSD inspection and
sampling
•Facility required to submit periodic reports on about its operation and discharge
