AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF
MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT
A RESOUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF ORANGE
COUNTY SANITATION DISTRICT AUTHORIZING SPECIFICATIONS
CALLING FOR A SPECIFIC MAKE AND MODEL OF EQUIPMENT IN
ORDER THAT A FIELD TEST MAY BE CONDUCTED TO DETERMINE
THE PRODUCT'S SUITABILITY FOR FUTURE USE, AS AUTHORIZED
BY CALIFORNIA PUBLIC CONTRACT CODE SECTION 3400(b)
WHEREAS, the Orange County Sanitation District has twenty-four (24)
secondary clarifiers as part of its wastewater treatment processing equipment, all of
which have been manufactured by the same vendor, and
WHEREAS, District plans call for total replacement of equipment for fourteen
(14) clarifiers as part of its Capital Improvements Program for Fiscal Year 2003-04 and
Fiscal Year 2004-05; and
WHEREAS, two (2) of the original fourteen (14) clarifiers are in need of
immediate replacement of major equipment components; and
WHEREAS, District has determined that another vendor has developed and is
manufacturing similar mechanical equipment to operate the secondary clarifiers, which
could be equal to or better than the equipment presently in use; and
WHEREAS, District wishes to purchase, install, and conduct extensive field trial
tests of the new equipment to determine if it should be approved for use in the future
capital replacement project.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of Directors of Orange County Sanitation District,
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER:
Section 1: As authorized by California Public Contract Code Section 3400(b),
the District's Purchasing Manager is authorized to negotiate and purchase necessary
mechanical equipment for two (2) secondary clarifiers, and to have said equipment
installed by U.S. Filter Envirex at District's Plant No. 1, for a cost not to exceed
$360,000.00.
