EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH FOR OUTSTANDING WORK
AND COOPERATION TO RESOLVE IMPACT OF
SEWAGE SPILL OF FEBRUARY 22. 1996
A JOINT RESOLUTION OF THE BOARDS OF DIRECTORS OF
COUNTY SANITATION DISTRICTS NOS. 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 11, 13 AND 14
OF ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH FOR OUTSTANDING WORK AND
COOPERATION TO RESOLVE IMPACT OF SEWAGE SPILL OF
FEBRUARY 22, 1996

WHEREAS, on Thursday, February 22, 1996, the County Sanitation District
No. 5 Bay Bridge Pump Station experienced an equipment failure, causing sewage to
back up into several homes along Bayside Drive and Harbor Island Drive; and,
WHEREAS, City of Newport Beach Fire Department and Public Works
Department crews responded immediately to residents impacted by the sewage spill;
and,
. WHEREAS, City of Newport Beach Public Works Department determined that
the problem was caused by Districts' equipment at the Bay Bridge Pump Station, and
immediately mobilized crews at the earliest possible moment to safeguard life, health
and property within the community; and,
WHEREAS, to contain spill and limit impact to the community, City of Newport
Beach Fire Department and Public Works Department put forth a maximum effort,
remaining on site continuously for the duration of the emergency, remaining on call
providing services as necessary to those homes impacted...
NOW, THEREFORE, the Boards of Directors of County Sanitation Districts
Nos. 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 11, 13 and 14 of Orange County, California,
DO HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER:
That the Districts hereby express sincere appreciation to the City of Newport
Beach for their outstanding service to the citizens of Orange County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting held March 27, 1996.

I, PENNY KYLE, Secretary of the Boards of Directors of County Sanitation
Districts Nos. 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 11, 13 and 14 of Orange County, California, do hereby
certify that the foregoing Resolution No. 96-41 was passed and adopted at a regular
meeting of said Boards on the 27th day of March, 1996, by the following vote, to wit:
