HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1953-09-17MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING~ADJOURNED SESSION BOARD OF DIRECTORS,COUNTY SANITATION DISTRICT NO.7 ORANGE COUNTY,CALIFORNIA September 17,1953 at 4:00 p.m. 308 West Fifth Srreet Santa Ana,California C’The Board of Directors of County Sanitation District No.7 of Orange County,California,met in adjourned session at the hour of 4:00 p.m.,on September 17,1953 in the offices of Harrison and ~Toolley,and Headman,Ferguson &Carollo at 308 West 5th Stre~t,Santa Ana,California,pursuant to adjournment at the last regular meeting of the Board. Chairman Humeston called the meeting to order at 4:15 p.m. The roll was called and the Secretary reported a quorum of the Board to be present. Directors present:Vincent L.Humeston (Chairman) J.L.McBride Willis H.~arner Directors absent:None Others present:Lee M.Nelson C.Arthur Nissan,Jr. J.A.Woolley K.J.Harrison Wintford L.Tadlock Ora Mae Merritt,Secretary Authorizing execution Mr.Nissan presented each of of contract for employ the Directors with a copy of ment of Harrison &the contract prepared f or VToolley,et al ernploym~nt of Harrison &Woolley arid Headman,Fcrguson &Carollo, in accordance with instructions of the Board at a meeting held on August 24,1953.After a review of the terms of the contract,the Board of Directors adopted Resolution No. 319—7,authorizing execution of this contract.Certified copy of this resolution is attached hereto and made a part of the official minutes. Report of the Engineers Mr.Harr.tson and Mr.Woolley presented a map outlining location and size of proposed trunk sewers for District No.7; andread a report on data used in preliminary studies relative to areas to be served,estimated population,~ap~acity and size of pipe and estimated costs for the construction of each section.In the discussion following the engineers’report, Director McBride expressed the opinion that 36”vitrified •clay pipe would serve the District’s needs better and more •economically than 4~”concrete pipe on the Gisler Avenue section.After a review of potential sewage disposal, it was concurred in by the Directors and acceptable to the •engineers that the preliminary report be based upon 36” vitrified clay pipe for the Gislc-r Avenue line,and that the plan as discussed be approved as a general plan for proceeding with preparation of the preliminary engineering report. -1- Remote and sparsely populated areas and areas owned by the Federal Government were reviewed in the discussion on construction costs and maintenance and operation.It was agreed that further conferences should be held by the engineers and the attorney with representatives of such areas before the preliminary engineering report is submitted. n Chairman,Board of Directors County Sanitation District No~7 Orange County,California ATTEST: Secretary,hoard of Directors County Sanitation District No.7 Orange County,Cali ornia C —2—
