Board of Supervisors Room The Board of Directors met in regular session. There were present:Directors Virgil H.Reed (Chairman)and C.M.Featherly (arrived late).Absent:Director R.Carson Smith, In the absence of Secretary Charles Sweet,Director Vincent Humeston of Sanitation District No,7 was appointed Secretary pro tern. The joint meeting of the District Boards was called to order by Chairman Virgil Reed at 8:oo P.M.(District No,1 Board was called to order upon the arrival of Director Featherly at 9:00 P.M.) A letter from Director B.Carson Smith was read,but no action was taken due to lack of a quorum. Director Weimer reported on the unofficial meeting of Districts Nos.1,2,3 and 11 held on August 17th in the Anaheim City Hall for the purpose of making proposals that might lead to agreement among all of the districts.Mr.‘~Veimer stated that a meeting of the chair men of all districts (District No.8 not attending)was held and that the following proposals were submitted:(1)that contracts be let, (2)that Mr.Clyde Jenken be employed as engineer of design and con struction,and (3)that Mr.Lemcke be employed as Chief Engineer- General Manager.Mr.Weiner suggested that,since these proposals were not acceptable to Districts Nos.5,6,and 7,the meeting be re cessed until some kind of an agreement could be reached. At 8:26 P.M.,Chairman Reed declared a recess of the joint meet ing.At 8:50 P.M.the meeting was called to order. Director ~Veimer reported that no agreement had been reached dur~ ing the recess. At 9:00 P.M.Director Featherly arrived and Chairman Reed called the District No.1 Board to order. The Associated Chambers of Commerce was represented by Walter Schmidt and Fl.Clay Kellogg,who urged the necessity of providing proper leadership and of composing the differences among the sanita~ tion districts.The Associated Chambers offered to aid the sanitation districts in working out this problem, 112 A motion was triade,duly seconded and carried,that the Steering Committee meet with Mr~Lemcke and Mr.Jenken.
