I. Sheet 3, REVISION TO SEDIMENTATION BASINS NO. 3 AND NO. 4,
add the following notes:
Existing bridges of Sedimentation Basins 3 and 4 shall be
cleaned and painted as follows:
a. Flooring material shall be removed from walling
surface.. Material shall be removed not less than· l /2-
inch into clamping angles on each side of bridge on each
side of each pair of angles.
b. A 1 /2-inch hole shall be drilled in center of walkway
at 4' -0 11 spacing to provi~e drainage.
c. All metal shall be ·cleaned by sandblasting to bare
metal, SSPC SP-6 commercial blast cleaning.·
d. Space between clamping angles at walling surface
shall be caulked with 1 /4 to 1 /2-inch deep synthetic
rubber to seal area between angles.
e. All exposed metal shall be painted with three coats
(primer and two finish coats) of alkyd enamel as specified.
f. A fourth coat of alkyd enamel shall be applied to the
walking surface. While the surface is still wet, the
walking area shall have blown onto it clean, sharp, dry
silica ~and of a size all passing a 20-mesh screen, but
all retained on a 40-mesh screen. The surface of the
paint and sand shall be allowed to dry for at least 48
hours, after which time the excess sand shall be broomed
off and the area given a final coating of the same paint,
applied to such thickness as to completely cover the sand
grains but not to fill the valleys between. The area out-
side that which is to be skidproofed shall be protected
from sand with masking tape during the operations.

2. Sheet 5, NEW SLUDGE PUMPS -SEDIMENTATION BASINS
NO. 3 AND NO. 4, add the follovring note:
Electrical work will be done by the Districts. Pump
electrical connections ·will be made by the Districts within
seven days after notification by contractor that pump in-
stallations are complete. The conb'actor shall then put
pumps in service and perform specified testing.

approximately 6-inches wide by 2-feet 6-inches deep. Plans
of existing basins are available at tl:.e Districts' office for
bidders' review. ·

painted with coal tar epoxy after installation of new return
rails.

Section C. All discharge piping shall not be glass lined.
Sheet 10, PIPING SCHEMATICS AND ISOMETRICS, delete
reference to "glass lined'' on pump discharge piping in four
places.

DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER:
Section 1. That the written recommendation this day
submitted to the Boa.rd of Directors by John Carollo Engineers,
District's engineers, and concurred in by the District's Chief
Engineer, tha.t award of contract be ma.de to F.T. ZIEBARTH CO.,

AND SEDIMENTATION BASINS A, B, AND C, PLANT NO. 2, JOB NO. P2-1R-l,
and the proposal submitted for said work, a.re hereby ·received and
ordered filed; and,
Section 2. That said contra.ct for Jobs Nos. Pl-lR-1 and
P2-1R-l be awarded to F. T. ZIEBARTH CO., Contractor, in the total
amount of $249,700 in accordance with terms of its bid and the
prices contained therein; and,
Section 3. That the Chairman and the Secretary of County
Sanitation District·No. 1 are hereby authorized and directed to
enter into and sign a contra.ct with said contractor for said
work pursuant to the specifications and contract documents
therefor; and,
Section 4. That all other bids received for said work
a.re hereby rejected, ·and that alJ_ bid bonds be returned to the
unsuccessful bidders.
